Khan el Franj, built by Emir Fakher El Dine in the 17th Century, is very well preserved. The entrance is for free for Lebanese and the foreigners who look like Lebanese :D [more photos]

It breaks my heart that we're not living in the same city. There are plenty of things I would want to experience with her whether it was in Beirut, or in Paris. Watching 'the insult' and discussing about it is one of these little things.

The Soap Museum in Saida is restored and managed by the Audi foundation. The guides are friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the building and the techniques of soap fabrication. The entrance is 5000LL including the guide fees.

The Debbaneh Palace. Direction: Get inside the old souk of Saida and search for the staircase leading up to this Ottoman House. Some parts of the house were closed for restoration and it seems that after these works, the entrance would no longer be free....
